Classical Ballet
Our Classical Ballet syllabus runs from Pre-Primary up to an Advanced level of expertise. The syllabus is designed to nurture and encourage dancers to appreciate the enjoyment of movement, develop flexibility and strength, in harmony with the whole body. The syllabus levels gradually increase in technical ability, grace and charm, the basis of all great dance.
Our syllabus focuses on providing learners with a fantastic grounding in classical ballet technique, as well as developing musicality and artistry.
PARENT AND BABY BALLET (2-3 YEARS)
This class engages both parents and children with different activities through play. We are providing a fun and nurturing environment for the little ones to be creative, to use their imagination and to fulfil their potential. We will be focusing on specific area of their development, promoting physical, social, emotional and cognitive development.
INTRODUCTION TO BALLET (3-4 YEARS)
This class introduces children with the basic ballet movements and positions. It provides opportunities for the children to learn through imagination and musical exercises boosting their creativity and shaping their own personality. Introduction to ballet is a great experience for children to build their dance skills, confidence and to socialize with their peers.


PRE-PRIMARY CLASSICAL BALLET (4-5 YEARS)
The syllabus introduces young children to classical ballet at an early age. This programme will enable children to learn basic ballet technique and positions, while developing musical awareness. Throughout the syllabus, children can really express themselves. Pre-Primary Ballet helps children understand the discipline needed in exam situations, but the experience is an enjoyable one that provides young learners with a real sense of achievement.
PRIMARY CLASSICAL BALLET (5-6 YEARS)
This syllabus builds on the exercises studied at the Pre-Primary level; furthering students’ understanding of the technical and artistic aspects of ballet. Greater emphasis is placed on developing core strength, flexibility and coordination. This lays a solid foundation for the more intricate syllabus studied in Graded Classes. Students will train harder, but still enjoy performing to music and showcasing their artistry.
GRADED CLASSICAL BALLET – GRADES 1-5 (7-12 YEARS)
This syllabus builds on the ballet foundations developed throughout the pre-graded levels (introduction to ballet, pre-primary and primary). These classes will contribute to the development of life skills such as discipline and boosting mental confidence and self-expression and as well continuing to improve physical fitness – flexibility, strength and coordination. In addition, students will develop their knowledge of dance vocabulary, technical skill and appreciation of music through dancing to various musical styles and rhythmic patterns. Graded material promotes the study of dance as a leisure and/or vocational activity covering a variety of barre and centre work, designed to equip students with essential ballet repertoire.
ADULT CLASSICAL BALLET
Offered to all ages and abilities, our adult ballet classes aim to provide enjoyment of dance as a form of physical exercise accompanied by classical musical styles developing an appreciation of music through dancing. These classes not only boost fitness, stamina and mobility but our safe environment also offers you a place to develop artistic and expressive qualities alongside other students who also share the same love for dancing. Dancers will cover classical barre and centre work as well as being offered opportunities to work on dance choreography and performances.

PBT – PROFESSIONAL BALLET TECHNIQUE

PBT – PROFESSIONAL BALLET TECHNIQUE (7-14 YEARS)
Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is a programme developed by Marie Walton-Mahon, an Australian ballet dancer, to help the students understand which muscles they need to be engaging during their ballet class. It promotes core stability, weight placement and alignment supporting the dancer’s ballet technique. Our teachers are certified PBT instructors.
PBT – PROFESSIONAL BALLET TECHNIQUE (ADULTS)
Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is a programme developed by Marie Walton-Mahon, an Australian ballet dancer, to help the students understand which muscles they need to be engaging during their ballet class. CONTEMPORARY DANCE
CONTEMPORARY DANCE (7-12 YEARS)
The contemporary dance class offers students to explore new ways of movement. The foundation steps of contemporary dance including foot work, release, floor work and travelling across the room will be explored developing the student’s coordination, muscles strength and spatial awareness. Improvisation and creative tasks accompanied by a wide range of musical styles will boost their confidence and expressive qualities whilst dancing solos/duets or in groups encouraging an overall improvement in mental wellbeing.
CONTEMPORARY DANCE (ADULTS)
This class provides a great experience of the free movement expression for our adult students. We are bringing various contemporary dance techniques with strong focus on leg work, foot work, travelling across the room, contract-release exercises and floor work. The students will have a chance to work on their technique and artistic expression whilst supported by learning dance routines and choreographies.
STREET DANCE
STREET DANCE (7-9 YEARS)
The students will learn the basics of hip hop (history, elements, moves) and will work on their dance foundation. The classes are focused on progressing their technique and freestyle. We will be learning how to work with music, how to feel the beat, working with rhythm, exploring the movement and body parts in space and creating choreographies throughout the term.
STREET DANCE (ADULTS)
The street dance class for adults helps students to discover new movement possibilities. The focus of this class is to work on the dance foundation and different elements of street dance. The students will have the opportunity to learn new routines and choreographies, to work on their musicality and creativity, to improve their stamina and to support their freestyle.
MUSICAL THEATRE & CHOIR
MUSICAL THEATRE (7- 15 YEARS)
Musical theatre classes provide an exciting opportunity for students to develop performing skills including dance, singing and acting. The classes focus on technique for vocal control and stage craft. The students will get a chance to boost their confidence and become stronger performers.
SKYLARK CHOIR
Skylark choir is an open class to anyone who has an interest in singing. The class is fun, friendly and supports all abilities. Every week we learn warm up vocal exercises & games to improve technique. Then we go onto work on a song to help build confidence and to just enjoy singing together.

SCULPT AND STRETCH & SKYLARK COMPANY

SCULPT AND STRETCH (ADULTS)
A class which allows you to take time out of your busy schedules for yourself physically and mentally. This class works with low impact exercise to sculpt and tone muscles supporting and improving stability and posture. Stretches to improve flexibility, release tension and improve range of movement. Mobilising exercises to circulate fresh oxygenated blood around the body, this refreshed blood flow not only boosts energy but also results in a calmer and more peaceful mindset.
SKYLARK COMPANY
Our Skylark Company established in 2020 by Miss Anya and Miss Sophie provides dancers with further opportunities to perform and compete in competitions around the UK and off-seas. On audition basis only, the Company is for students who are committed and dedicated to dancing and looking to take their love for dancing further. Annual auditions will be held for future students wishing to join the Skylark Company.
